Cypress, TX Real Estate, Cypress Area and Community Information
History of Cypress TX Real Estate
An artifact was recently found which proves that people populated Cypress TX as early as 7500BC. At a more recent point in history, Akokisa and Atakupa Indians called this region home. These tribes dispersed after the arrival of German settlers in 1840. The Germans left their mark on Cypress Properties. Many roads bear German names to this day.
It was on land in Cypress that General Sam Houston camped on March 22, 1836 just before the Battle of San Jacinto. This area was rural until the 1990’s when several planned communities were developed on the land, one of which was the community of Cypress. The Cypress Historical Society hosts regular events geared towards teaching residents about the history and culture of Cypress. Visit the Cypress Historical Society’s official site to learn more.
